Role: Visual design, Web designer, Prototyping and Testing

Background:

Java Been, a local coffee shop that was founded under three years ago. This cafe is now a bustling cafe, that is key part of the community. The owner's vision is to create a responsive website that is user friendly.

Context:

With the creation of a website that meets not only the client's goal, but services the users in a positive way and makes it easy to navigate. Furthermore, this project is the first in my web design journey and I am happy with the responsiveness and user accessibility.

//Problem:

Java Been does not have a website for their customers. The company does not want to be left behind in the digital age.

//Solution:

I aimed to create a responsive website that meets the needs of the company and provide a great user experience. For the site I wanted to take inspiration from other local coffee shops and commercial ones as well, on how the website is structured.

//Question:

What are some web design treads I could use for the web site and make it future proof?

Research:

The research conducted, I looked into different coffee shop websites on how the sitemap was designed for the user. The two local shops I took inspiration from was Guncotton Coffee located in Hopewell, Virginia and Brewer's Cafe located in Richmond, Virginia. Both websites showcased great UI and UX design principles for their site, that used to create Java Been's site for their customers.

Wireframes:

With the research I conducted, for the website. When mapping out the website, I created a sitemap that I followed and it has the following pages: Homepage, About Us, Order Online, Subscription, and Contact Us pages for the site. I did undergo may changes to the overall design and how users can interact with the site. The website had to be built from the ground up, many edits and changes had to be made.

Challenges & Conclusion:

Some of the challenges I have faced when creating the website, is the code. I previous learned code in one of my classes at Southern New Hampshire, the class duration is 8 weeks. The class focused on JavaScript React, it was a lot of information in a short time span. However, I researched and practiced with the code so that I gotten comfortable with it.

With the creation of the website it showcase UI and UX principles that are needed in today's industry. The site captures Java Been's vision for their site and provide their customers with a site that has great design elements and heavily focused on the users experience.
