Overview:
Town is a high-end Chinese restaurant, that needed to have their image rebranded. The company provided the old items (menu, table tent, and brochure), that needed to be recreated. They kept wanted to keep certain items, make the company's items to pop and simple to view.
Town's original menu design

Town's new menu design rationale:
The original menu, I envisioned the menu having a hardback cover and the inside having a traditional yet simple design layout of Chinese menus. With the new menu I decided to increase the size 8.5x14 and have the menu two sided. I got the inspiration to change the size and what items to include from my full-time job, which is a print shop. With the new design there are less items on the menu compared to the original and the front choice is more redefined.
The design demonstrates the ability to present and disseminate quality craftsmanship, the goal of the redesign was to make the menu design more professional, modern, and classy. The updated menu is a clean simple piece that has elements of what Town is all about which is upper class and professional etc. For the updated menu design, it was created with being printed in mind. For the menu design for digital it would list the items on the site with the images of the items
For the new design of Town’s menu, the strategies used was the typography sizing, choice, and items on the menu that was chose. In addition, I decided to include a Town’s Menu in Chinese. I wanted this inclusion because it I wanted to bring that culture and apply it to the menu. The new menu designed is very professional compared to the original, with new design it makes the menu more modern and up to date.

Town's new brochure design rationale:
With this new design, I struggled with how the new brochure would look. I went with a single fold, and the mission statement and images of Town’s different elements that make it the restaurant that individuals would go back too. I wanted to communicate the professionalism and fancy essences of the restaurant ideals. The way I communicated that is the addition of images for the new design compared to the traditional brochure which is a takeout menu for Chinese restaurants.
The research that was done when looking for inspiration for the Town brochure, was googling different types of restaurants, event, and shop brochure designs. At work I did see different designed brochures with different sizing and folding sizes. I went with the single folded brochure that showcased the Images and have the contact information and hours on the font and the back has the logo.
Town's original table tent design

Town's new table tent design rationale:
With this new design reworked, I wanted to create a dessert menu and have a professional design look for the table tent. With the new design of the table tent, I researched and got inspiration from different types of dessert table tents. From the design, how they communicate to the audience regarding what other items are on the dessert menu. In addition, with the design of the table tent, I included the line where the table tent will form.
When redesigning the table tent, I researched different sizing for table tent. I chose the size of 4x17. I thought that size change would allow for more items to be added and I wanted to include a dessert image on the front and the list of desserts on the back. I used InDesign to create the table tent, like I stated before the research I done for the design is looking up different tradition Chinese desserts. While designing I wanted all the typography to be centered up, and I wanted the design of the items to be simple and the colors used are uniformed. All the colors used for the table tent and the menu are the same color scheme. I also included bleed so it can be print ready, and a line when folded the white is connected. When it’s connected the audience will only see the front and back designs.
A table tent is a universal item that can be found in restaurants, bars, and etc. The goal of the redesign is to have the table tent look professional, simple, and eye catching in terms of the typography that was used. The design has a balance of colors no color overpowers the other, which was a goal of mines when creating and designing the table tent.
